David Shinn is an award-winning recording, mixing, and mastering engineer. While he produces 'sound for all media' at Radio Waves Studios in NYC, he is an Emmy Award winning, as well as an Audie Award winning, sound engineer. In 2025 the audiobook 'Sweet Fragrance of Life and other Horror Stories' (won a 2025 Communicator Award for Craft–Editing of Audiobooks).

The productions recorded at Radio Waves are often a mix of in-person actors, along with cast members working remotely from their home studios.

Among his recent credits that feature remote cast recordings are: Episode 1 of 'Day by Day,' which was featured in the 2024 Miami Webfest (Winner Best Drama Script), 2024 NJ Webfest (nominated for Best Drama), 2024 Baltimore Webfest (Winner Best Drama), and was heard at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival in the audio storytelling division. The program features 10 actors and full sound design. ‘Presence, the Play,’ a 9.5-hour audiobook featuring 20 actors, which won the 2022 Gold Communicator Award of Excellence for Editing and was nominated for BEST SOUND by NY Festivals. ‘Mason and Milo: A Journey Through the Stars,’ featuring a 9-year-old actor working remotely. 'Curveballs Pilot,' which was featured at the 2024 NJ Webfest (won for Lead Actress) and at the 2024 Baltimore Webfest (Winner Best Comedy). The program features 12 actors and full sound design.

In 2020, David helped oversee a 'virtual festival' with 15,000 visitors to the weekend’s online programming that included daily live events. David is also well-known for studio construction and was able to assist cast members at a distance with ensuring the best sound from their home studios.
