In this session we will be talking about four main things when it comes to directing on your own. 1. Acting Basics and covering what it means to pretend. This is a refresher course for more advanced talent as well as an oppurtunity to define terms I will be using in this talk. 2. READING THE SPECS. Interpreting the specs to give you an idea of the intent of the scene. 3. Questions to ask while you are self directing. The who, what, where and why of self direction. 4. Things to avoid when self directing. Attendee Takeaways: The purpose of this session is to teach the participants about how thinking critically about a script can help them discover the intent of the writer and understand the scene surrounding their character. We will be delving into the copy and exploring the choices they can make, understanding the SPECS presented and learning how to breath life into the scene.
