Full Name
John Fornof
Job Title
Writer, Director & Producer
Speaker Bio
When John was a kid, he clutched his Panasonic RQ-309S cassette tape recorder close to
his heart, and with his dad’s encouragement, started creating his own “radio adventures”. His dream was to grow up to write and produce radio dramas. Was this a God thing, or a John thing? Here’s the thing: No one was doing radio dramas anymore.
Fast forward to November 1987: Adventures in Odyssey, America’s favorite family audio drama, was born. Fast forward ten years later: John got an offer to write for Odyssey, and joined the writing team. Later, John directed such talented actors as Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings, Rudy, Stranger Things) John Rhys-Davies (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Lord of the Rings), Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey) and Anthony Daniels (Star Wars).
John has now worked as a writer, director, and producer on 17 audio drama franchises in all. He helped launch 10 shows, including Lamplighter Theatre, The Last Chance Detectives, and The Extraordinary Adventures of G.A. Henty. He’s written over 250 episodes.
Someone once called John “the Spielberg of audio drama”. He blushed. Then he put it in
his bio. John is a published author with Tyndale, produced two Emmy-Award winning
documentaries, and directed three award-winning short films.
One of John’s passions is to coach next generation creatives. He also teaches numerous
workshops and seminars for writers, directors, producers, and actors.
In short, John sure has fun. God’s opened doors for John to live his dream—the dream
God put inside him. And who knows where that fast forward button will take him next?
