Voice Actor
Speaker Bio
Benni Latham is a voice and commercial actor who grew up with a love for cartoons and comic
books. Latham can currently be heard in the hit Nickelodeon / Paramount+ animated series
“Transformers EarthSpark.” As part of the Transformers mega franchise, the series tells the story of a new breed of Earth-born Transformers who must find their place and purpose among
Autobots, Decepticons, and the human family (The Malto’s) who adopt them. Latham voices the
character Dorothy "Dot" Malto, a human, park ranger, and ex-soldier. When her children discover a new species of Transformer robots, dubbed Terrans, she, alongside her husband, fights to protect them. Dot is loving and kind, but can become a fierce warrior when her family is threatened. The series premiered in November 2022 and has been renewed for a second season (release date TBC).
Latham also stars in the independent animated short “Lackadaisy Cats”, based on a popular
webcomic about bootlegging cats set in the 1920s, as “Serafine Savoy,” a Louisiana Creole
Voodoo priestess and hired gun who smuggles booze at the behest of her mysterious employer.
She, Nico, and the elusive Mordecai are part of the Marigold gang whose purpose is to destroy
anyone that gets in the way of their business.
Latham’s other credits include “Spidey and His Amazing Friends” as “Cyclist” (2022), and
“Lackdaisy Comic Dubs” as “Flapper#1.”
Born in Compton, California, Latham spent much of her early years splitting her time between
Compton and Buena Park, where she attended Buena Park High School and became an active
member of her school’s drama department. Although Latham was nine years old when she
realized she had an interest in acting, her love for performing specifically sparked at her high
school when she began performing in everything from Neil Simon and Shakespeare, to August
Wilson and Ntozake Shange. It was on stage that Latham learned the transformative power of her imagination.
Her desire to voice-act occurred when she would return home after school and watch cartoons,
like her favorite animated series “Inspector Gadget.” Latham related to the character Penny,
voiced by the legendary voice actor, Cree Summer. The impact of the revelation that Cree
Summer was a woman of color, like Latham, stuck with her: she knew she wanted to be a voice
actor from that moment on.
After high school, Latham began studying improv at Groundlings and UCB while she worked as
a TSA agent but, after witnessing a harrowing incident at the LAX airport in 2013, Latham made
the decision to quit her job and, three years later, she left the airport to become a full-time actor.
As fate would have it, she booked her first national commercial portraying a TSA agent for
Samsung in 2016. Booking that role was healing and affirming to Latham as it symbolized her
transition from her old life on the sidelines as a TSA agent to a working actress, living her
childhood dream.
