Melique Berger is a queer Black Jewish powerhouse in the voice-over world, with nearly four decades of experience bringing characters to life across animation, video games, and live-action. A four-time One Voice Awards nominee—including Best Body of Work nominee (2023) by the Society of Arts and Sciences and Best Actor—Melique won the 2023 One Voice Award for Best Animation Character for The Cuphead Show and the 2025 award for Best Anime Character as Queen Scarlet in Droners Season 2. She has become a fan favorite for her boundary-pushing performances and unique presence in the industry. She made Pokémon history as Ryme in Pokémon Horizons: The Series, the only Trainer of Ghost-type Pokémon and the franchise’s first-ever battle rapper. Ryme’s debut on Netflix in February 2025 cemented Melique’s place
in Pokémon lore as one of only three Black female Gym Leaders. Fans also know her as Mrs. Pancakes in the Emmy-winning Rick and Morty, as well as for her roles in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, The Cuphead Show, and
Disney Jr.’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends. She’s a recurring voice in major ADR projects, including X-Men, Fight Club, and the Academy Award-winning Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, plus TV favorites like Insecure and The Goldbergs. In gaming, Melique made history voicing Kaysa, a Great Fairy in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity—the first Great Fairy in the Legend of Zelda franchise to speak—and characters in Aliens: Fireteam Elite, The Ship: Ktana, and Soldier Molina.
Offscreen, Melique is equally passionate about nurturing new talent. As the founder of Berger’s Reels LA, not only does she direct and produce animation and commercial demos, she coaches aspiring and working voice actors, helping them land roles with Disney, DreamWorks, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon. She’s also the co-founder of Indigo Voices, where she combines her signature Art of the Pivot© technique with Portia Scott’s Method on the Mic/Actors Toolkit© to mentor the next generation of diverse talent.
